Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to providing high-quality governance and fulfilling the promises he made during his campaign.

Speaking to journalists in Lagos on Sunday after delivering a mini-lecture at the 7th Memorial Anniversary Lecture in honor of St. Moses Orimolade, the founder of the Cherubim and Seraphim Church, Adeleke emphasized his dedication to the people of Osun State.

In a statement released by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, Governor Adeleke highlighted that his administration’s focus on prioritizing the public’s needs and delivering effective governance has significantly impacted the state, to the point where the opposition has been overwhelmed.

He underscored that his government is tackling a wide range of challenges, from major infrastructure issues to smaller service delivery concerns, using a blend of large-scale initiatives and targeted interventions.

This, he explained, has enabled his administration to work in the best interest of the people, delivering tangible results across multiple sectors.

“We remain steadfast in our commitment to the people of Osun, and we continue to drive our governance agenda forward,” Adeleke said.

He went on to list several areas in which his administration has made notable achievements, including infrastructure, healthcare, the digital economy, agriculture, commerce and industry, climate change initiatives, education, sports, and the welfare of workers.

“By the grace of God, and with the overwhelming support of the people, we have achieved a great deal in a relatively short time,” he added.

Addressing his critics, Adeleke expressed empathy, acknowledging that it is natural for individuals to feel envious or bitter when they witness others succeed where they may have failed.

However, he urged his critics to set aside personal grievances and focus on the public good.

“I understand their frustration, but I encourage them to prioritize the interests of the people over personal agendas.

As for me, failure is not an option—I have no choice but to succeed,” he stated.

Adeleke also touched on the opposition’s tactics, suggesting that their inability to grasp how his administration has achieved so much in such a brief period has led them to engage in negative behavior.

He mentioned that the opposition has resorted to spreading misinformation, launching personal attacks, and even criticizing him for publicly expressing his faith.

According to the governor, some of his detractors have gone so far as to condemn him for praising and worshiping God, who he believes is the true giver of power and life.

During the lecture, which focused on the theme “The Role of the Church in the Delivery of Good Governance,” Adeleke urged religious institutions to actively engage in speaking truth to power.

He emphasized the crucial role that religious leaders play in promoting good governance and ensuring that political leaders remain accountable to the people.

“The church cannot afford to be silent. Religious leaders must speak out on issues like free and fair elections, the dignity of all human beings, the supremacy of the public good over private interests, respect for the Constitution, and equality before the law,” Adeleke stated.

He further called on clerics to be vocal in condemning practices that hinder effective governance.

These practices, he said, include autocracy, dictatorship, disregard for the rule of law, corruption, suppression of opposition, and the failure to meet the aspirations of the people.

“Religious leaders must advocate against these evils.

Only a leader who is divinely guided can deliver good governance, restore public trust in politics, resist self-enrichment, address societal poverty, and uphold the rule of law,” the governor concluded.

Adeleke’s comments reflect his broader vision of governance, one rooted in transparency, accountability, and service to the people.

He believes that the partnership between political leaders and religious institutions is essential to fostering a society where good governance thrives, and the needs of the public are always placed at the forefront.

As his administration continues to make strides in Osun State, Adeleke remains focused on building a legacy of impactful governance that will stand the test of time.

Peter Obi Says Being President Means Sacrificing for the People Not Living in Luxury

Presidential hopeful Peter Obi has said being Nigeria’s president is not about luxury but about sacrifice, compassion, and using resources wisely. Speaking on Channels TV’s Sunday Politics, Obi criticised President Bola Tinubu’s government, saying it shows little concern for the struggles of ordinary Nigerians.

“If I become president, I will not waste public money. You won’t hear me saying ‘buy a new jet’,” Obi said, slamming the idea of spending huge sums on luxuries while basic needs suffer. “I don’t need a private jet to function. How can you spend N150 billion on jets when most of our primary healthcare centres are not working?” he asked.

Obi reflected on his time as governor of Anambra State, saying he led by example with a simple lifestyle. “As governor, I used a Peugeot 406 for four years. I didn’t ride in bulletproof cars. People want to kill you when you do wrong. But when you do right, you live without fear. If your citizens are suffering or dying, you as president should also be ready to face anything; even death,” he added.

2027 presidential hopeful aspirant, Peter Obi, has questioned the continued detention of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), saying the situation doesn’t make sense to him. Obi explained that he would push for a political solution to Kanu’s case and other similar issues across Nigeria rather than allowing them to drag on.

Speaking during an interview on Channels TV’s Sunday Politics, Obi said it was hard to understand why Kanu was still in detention over allegations like insulting those in power. When asked if he supports a political approach to the IPOB leader’s case, Obi responded, “Why is he still being held? It doesn’t make sense to me.

“Some say he used vulgar words… I haven’t seen it myself. But even if he did, it doesn’t affect me. If I’m president and people call me a thief or an idiot — as they already do — it doesn’t bother me. My job is to ensure people can feed themselves.”

He also stressed that the same approach would apply to similar situations across the country. “If there’s a bandit somewhere in the North East, I’ll go there and meet him. That’s how you create dialogue and say, enough is enough. After that, action will follow,” Obi added.

The singer took to social media to express his thoughts on the move and questioned who the party is truly fighting for.

“Are they fighting for you, or fighting to sit where their enemies used to sit? Are they shouting ‘enough is enough’ because they’ve changed… or because they’re no longer the ones benefitting?”

“We don’t just need new names. We need new values, new visions, and people with the guts to live by them. 2027 is not about revenge. It’s about rescue.”
