Shallipopi Vows to Boycott The Headies After Embarrassing Moment

Nigerian artist Shallipopi has said he will no longer attend future editions of The Headies after an awkward experience at the 17th edition held in Lagos on Sunday.
Shallipopi, who was nominated for the highly competitive Next Rated award but lost to his close associate Odumodublvck, seemed to get a bit of hope when his track ‘Cast’ was announced as the Best Rap Single of the Year.
However, when he got on stage to accept the award, the presenter simply shook his hand without giving him the actual plaque. Reports later revealed that the organisers had run out of plaques midway through the event.
Taking to his X page on Monday, Shallipopi expressed his frustration and said he would be boycotting the event going forward. He added that he didn’t even want the Best Rap Single award because he doesn’t see himself as a rapper, suggesting it should have gone to one of the real rappers in the category. “The next one if una see me make I bend,” he posted.
