Operatives of the Osun Amotekun Corps have arrested a 27-year-old man, Adekunle Obideyi, for stealing cocoa, bananas, and other agricultural produce from a farm in Erinmo-Ijesa, Osun State.

Speaking to journalists on Monday, December 2, 2024, in Osogbo, the Corps Commander, Isaac Omoyele, said the arrest followed a tip-off. “Amotekun operatives swiftly acted on the information, tracking down and capturing Obideyi in his hideout in Erinmo-Ijesa,” Omoyele stated.

During preliminary questioning, the suspect admitted to the theft and revealed that it was not his first time engaging in such illegal activities. Obideyi confessed to stealing farm produce like cocoa and bananas, which he sold to buyers.

The suspect was apprehended while attempting to hide in an uncompleted building after the theft. He has since been handed over to the Osun State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for further investigation.

Omoyele urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities to the Amotekun Corps or other security agencies for swift action.
