Cristiano Ronaldo has hit back at his former Real Madrid teammate Rafael van der Vaart after the Dutchman criticized him in a recent interview.

The exchange between the two former footballers came after Van der Vaart labeled Ronaldo as “selfish” during an appearance on talkSPORT.

Ronaldo and Van der Vaart shared a brief spell together at Real Madrid, where the Portuguese star was already becoming a global football sensation.

Although they were teammates for a short period, their relationship has now come into the spotlight following Van der Vaart’s controversial remarks.

In the interview, Van der Vaart acknowledged Ronaldo’s exceptional work ethic but took aim at his mentality, describing him as “selfish.”

The former Tottenham star suggested that Ronaldo was only satisfied when he found the back of the net, implying that his focus on personal achievements sometimes overshadowed the team’s success.

Not one to shy away from a response, Ronaldo took to Instagram, where he posted a blunt four-word comment: “Who is that guy?”

The simple yet pointed remark seemed to dismiss Van der Vaart’s criticism entirely, indicating that Ronaldo had little regard for the opinions of his former teammate.
