Flick Praises Inter Milan Despite Barcelona’s Heartbreaking Loss
Barcelona manager Hansi Flick reflected on his team’s narrow 4-3 defeat to Inter Milan in the Champions League semi-final second leg on Tuesday, offering insight into why they came up short.
Inter Milan took a 2-0 lead by halftime with goals from Lautaro Martinez and Hakan Calhanoglu. Barcelona responded strongly in the second half, with Eric Garcia and Dani Olmo scoring to level the match, before Raphinha gave the visitors a 3-2 lead. But Inter quickly equalized through Francesco Acerbi, sending the game into extra time. In the first half of extra time, Davide Fratessi found the net to secure Inter’s spot in the final.
In his post-match interview, Flick expressed his disappointment at being eliminated but praised his team’s effort. He acknowledged that Inter Milan had defended well and had a dangerous striker in Martinez.
“I’m very disappointed that we’re out, but I’m not disappointed with my team’s performance. They gave everything,” said Flick. “We’re out this year, but we’ll come back stronger next season, and we’ll make our fans and the club proud.” Flick also gave credit to Inter Milan, calling them a solid team with strong defensive qualities and a top-class forward in Martinez.
Former Manchester United player, Jesse Lingard, has revealed that he has mutually agreed to leave FC Seoul and his contract will end. It is reported that he will leave next week.
It can be noted that the footballer joined in February 2024 and has made 66 appearances since then, scoring 18 goals.
The player shared his experience on social media, saying “My time in South Korea has been unbelievable — the football, the atmosphere, and the passion around this club have been top class.”
“The love, support, and appreciation you have shown towards me over these last two years has been truly amazing. I’ll always be grateful for the opportunity to play for such a massive club.”

When comparing players, he shared that: “When Saka is on it, he looks unplayable,” however he also stated that even with Salah’s stature, he is strong.
He has got the strength like Mohamed Salah. He is small in frame and size when you look at him, but do you ever see him get pushed off the ball?
“You don’t really see people take the ball off him or put him on his arse. He is a strong little guy.”

“We will have the winter period, which will start very soon, so let’s see,” he said.
