Education Minister Announces New Secondary School Curriculum by September 2024
The Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman, revealed during the 2024 Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board policy meeting in Abuja that a new curriculum for secondary schools nationwide will be introduced by September 2024.
According to Mamman, the process of developing this new curriculum has been ongoing for the past year, with a stakeholders’ meeting scheduled for August 6, 2024, to finalize the details.
“We are working diligently to ensure that by September, a new curriculum will be rolled out across all secondary schools, both public and private,” Mamman stated, emphasizing the comprehensive nature of the upcoming educational reform.
Recent concerns raised by the National Senior Secondary School Education Commission regarding the state of senior secondary education in Nigeria, including infrastructural deficits, teacher qualifications, outdated curricula, and inadequate facilities like libraries and laboratories, have underscored the urgent need for educational reform at the secondary level.
