Labbadia to Name Foreign Assistants for Super Eagles
Newly-appointed Super Eagles head coach Bruno Labbadia is set to name his foreign assistants, Labbadia’s appointment was confirmed on Tuesday. The German coach is expected to select two foreign assistants, while the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) will appoint local coaches. Labbadia is reportedly considering Erdinç Sözer, Olaf Janßen, and Bernhard Trares for the roles.
Sözer, regarded as Labbadia’s most trusted assistant, is likely to be his top pick. The duo has collaborated at several clubs, including Bayer Leverkusen, VfB Stuttgart, VfL Wolfsburg, and Hertha Berlin. Sözer is currently available after leaving Turkish club Samsunspor on June 30, 2024. Former center-back Trares began working with Labbadia in 2015 at Hamburg and later at VfB Stuttgart. He is also without a club. Janßen, currently the manager of Viktoria Köln, might not be available due to his current commitments.

Cristiano Ronaldo recently responded to a bold comment about his age during a conversation with popular YouTuber Jimmy Donaldson, widely known as MrBeast.
The exchange took place during a video collaboration, where the American internet sensation joked about Ronaldo’s age, implying that at nearly 40 years old, he might be approaching the end of his life.
MrBeast playfully remarked, “Almost 40! You’re about to die, what’s it like?”
Ronaldo assured his fans and critics alike that he plans to live a long life, stating, “I’m going to live until I’m 100, just to let you know.”
The Portuguese superstar also took the opportunity to address perceptions of age in football.
He explained that while many players retire in their early to mid-thirties, he views football as a career that can be extended with the right mindset and physical conditioning.
“In football, this is a long career because most of the time they retire at 33, 34, or 36,” Ronaldo said, emphasizing his longevity and commitment to the sport.
Ronaldo has consistently defied expectations throughout his illustrious career.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s Uncle Recovering After Being Hit by Car in Jersey
Cristiano Ronaldo’s uncle, Jorge Viveiros, experienced a harrowing incident on Wednesday when he was struck by a car while riding his motorbike.
The unfortunate accident happened in Saint Helier, the bustling capital of the island of Jersey, where Viveiros was hit by the vehicle under unclear circumstances.
According to reports from Jornal da Madeira, emergency services quickly arrived at the scene to provide assistance.
Firefighters were among the first responders and played a vital role in attending to Viveiros.
After stabilizing him on-site, he was rushed to the hospital for further evaluation and medical care.
The severity of the situation initially caused concern, but after spending time under observation, Viveiros was discharged and allowed to return home to recover.
Jorge Viveiros is the brother of Cristiano Ronaldo’s mother, Dolores Aveiro, and is known to have a strong bond with the family.
Ronaldo, who has always expressed deep affection for his family, would understandably have been distressed upon hearing about the accident.
