Impersonator Courage Ipaka Gets Two Years

A federal high court in Lagos has sentenced Courage Ipaka to two years in prison for impersonating singer Flavour and defrauding U.S. resident Yvelte M. Thompson of $53,000. Ipaka used Bitcoin to receive the funds and then converted them into Naira through his Access Bank account.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) discovered Ipaka’s deception through an investigation led by Azibagiri Dan Ekpar. The court’s verdict includes a two-year prison term or a N2 million fine and the forfeiture of N7.9 million to Thompson.
