Nigerian Father Laments Spending £100 on Teen Daughter’s Braids in the UK
Dr. Uche Nworah, former Managing Director and CEO of Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS), has expressed his shock over the high cost of braiding his teenage daughter’s hair in the UK.
In a heartfelt post, the author shared that it cost him £100 (approximately N200,000) to style his daughter Lotanna’s hair as she began secondary school on September 4.
Nworah humorously recounted his reaction after realizing the expense, saying, “In Peter Obi’s voice, I felt I had been robbed.
Over N200K spent on a teen’s hair that will only last weeks.” He jokingly mentioned making a “mental note to sneak in when she is sleeping and shave her mala.”
Despite the expense, Nworah expressed his pride and joy for Lotanna as she embarks on her secondary school journey.
He reminisced about his own excitement on the first day of school, praying for her success and offering his support, though she refused his offer to accompany her—embracing her newfound independence.
