Daniel Bwala, a former aide to Atiku Abubakar, has shared strong doubts about the former vice president’s chances of ever becoming Nigeria’s president. Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Bwala openly stated that Atiku might not be destined to lead the country, despite years of trying.

“In my honest view, it may not be in God’s plan for him to be president,” Bwala said. “He has done all he could, but it just didn’t happen.” He pointed to the 2023 elections as Atiku’s best shot, calling it a missed opportunity that may never come again.

Bwala, who was once Atiku’s campaign spokesperson, has now shifted his support to President Bola Tinubu and doesn’t believe any of the current opposition figures; including Peter Obi and Rotimi Amaechi; stand a real chance in 2027.

Peter Obi Says Being President Means Sacrificing for the People Not Living in Luxury

Presidential hopeful Peter Obi has said being Nigeria’s president is not about luxury but about sacrifice, compassion, and using resources wisely. Speaking on Channels TV’s Sunday Politics, Obi criticised President Bola Tinubu’s government, saying it shows little concern for the struggles of ordinary Nigerians.

“If I become president, I will not waste public money. You won’t hear me saying ‘buy a new jet’,” Obi said, slamming the idea of spending huge sums on luxuries while basic needs suffer. “I don’t need a private jet to function. How can you spend N150 billion on jets when most of our primary healthcare centres are not working?” he asked.

Obi reflected on his time as governor of Anambra State, saying he led by example with a simple lifestyle. “As governor, I used a Peugeot 406 for four years. I didn’t ride in bulletproof cars. People want to kill you when you do wrong. But when you do right, you live without fear. If your citizens are suffering or dying, you as president should also be ready to face anything; even death,” he added.

Peter Obi Questions Why Nnamdi Kanu Is Still in Detention

2027 presidential hopeful aspirant, Peter Obi, has questioned the continued detention of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), saying the situation doesn’t make sense to him. Obi explained that he would push for a political solution to Kanu’s case and other similar issues across Nigeria rather than allowing them to drag on.

Speaking during an interview on Channels TV’s Sunday Politics, Obi said it was hard to understand why Kanu was still in detention over allegations like insulting those in power. When asked if he supports a political approach to the IPOB leader’s case, Obi responded, “Why is he still being held? It doesn’t make sense to me.

“Some say he used vulgar words… I haven’t seen it myself. But even if he did, it doesn’t affect me. If I’m president and people call me a thief or an idiot — as they already do — it doesn’t bother me. My job is to ensure people can feed themselves.”

He also stressed that the same approach would apply to similar situations across the country. “If there’s a bandit somewhere in the North East, I’ll go there and meet him. That’s how you create dialogue and say, enough is enough. After that, action will follow,” Obi added.
