Warren Buffett’s $143 Billion Fortune to Be Donated After His Death
Warren Buffett, the 6th richest person in the world, has chosen to donate his entire $143.1 billion fortune to charity after his death.
His three children, Howard, 69, Susie, 71, and Peter, 66, will be in charge of distributing the money to charities of their choice over the course of 10 years.
Howard, set to become Berkshire Hathaway’s nonexecutive chairman, acknowledged the challenge, stating, “It’s not so easy to give away money if you want to do it smart.”
Despite the difficulty, he expressed gratitude for the opportunity, noting that they would work together as a family to ensure the funds are used wisely.
Since 2006, the siblings have donated over $15 billion of their father’s money through their own foundations.
Howard also emphasized that he believes wealthy people should give away their fortunes during their lifetimes, rather than leaving it in perpetual foundations.
