Manchester City confirmed that midfielder Rodri suffered a knee ligament injury during the match against Arsenal on Sunday, forcing his substitution in the 21st minute after a collision with Thomas Partey. Although there is no confirmed recovery timeline, manager Pep Guardiola indicated that Rodri will likely be out for an extended period, pending further medical evaluations in Spain.

Guardiola emphasized Rodri’s importance to the team, noting their unbeaten record in the last 48 Premier League matches he started. The team has struggled without him, losing four of the five games he missed last season.

Rodri, who played a crucial role in Spain’s Euro 2024 win, is also a candidate for the Ballon d’Or. Additionally, he recently discussed player concerns about the increasing number of matches in the football calendar.
