Falz Denies Bobrisky’s Claims of Prison Help Amid Leaked Audio
Nigerian rapper and activist Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, has addressed allegations involving cross-dresser Bobrisky during his time in prison.
According to reports, Bobrisky was imprisoned for three months after pleading guilty to charges of naira mutilation following his arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
He was released on August 5, 2024.
The controversy arose when, on September 24, 2024, social critic and activist Martins Otse, better known as VeryDarkMan, leaked an alleged voice recording of Bobrisky.
In the audio, Bobrisky claimed that Falz and his father, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), helped to get the EFCC to drop money laundering charges against him while he was incarcerated.
In response to the widespread public reactions to the leaked recording, Falz, through his family’s law firm, Falana & Falana’s Chambers, firmly denied having initiated any contact with Bobrisky during his time in prison.
The legal statement clarified that Bobrisky had only reached out to Falz to request financial assistance of N3 million.
According to the statement, Bobrisky wanted the funds to pay certain officials so he could be placed in the VIP section of the correctional facility.
Falz’s lawyers also took the opportunity to criticize VeryDarkMan for spreading what they described as reckless and unverified allegations without making any effort to reach out for clarification.
The letter, now viral on social media, emphasized Falz’s innocence in the matter and urged for more responsible journalism, especially regarding sensitive issues like this.
This development has sparked further discussions about the role of activists and celebrities in controversial matters, as well as the importance of verifying information before publication.
Falz, known for his social activism and outspoken stance on political issues, continues to maintain his innocence and integrity amid the ongoing dispute.
