Skales Claims He Wrote Hit Songs for Wizkid During EME Days
Skales, born Raoul John Njeng-Njeng, recently shared insights about his contributions to the music industry during his time at Empire Mates Entertainment (EME).
Speaking on the show ‘Curiosity Made Me Ask’ hosted by content creator Bae U Barbie, the singer claimed he wrote numerous hit songs for his former label mate, Wizkid.
Skales revealed that he played a role in the creation of several tracks on Wizkid’s debut album, Superstar, including the bonus track ‘Wiz Party.’
He emphasized that their collaboration at EME was a two-way street. While Skales contributed to Wizkid’s projects, the Grammy-winning artist also wrote songs for him, such as the popular track ‘Mukulu.’
Reflecting on their partnership, Skales stated, “Back in EME, we were a team. We used to write songs for each other. I wrote for Wizkid, and he wrote for me. It was all about teamwork.”
Their journey in the music industry began when they were among the first artists signed to EME by the R&B singer and music executive Banky W in the early 2010s.
The label played a crucial role in bringing both artists into the limelight, helping them build successful careers.
However, their time at the label wasn’t without challenges.
After a series of disagreements with Banky W, both Skales and Wizkid eventually parted ways with EME.
In a separate interview, Banky W disclosed that Wizkid still owed the label three albums based on his initial contract.
This revelation shed light on the contractual issues that contributed to their departure.
Despite the fallout, both artists have managed to carve out successful solo careers, with Wizkid achieving international acclaim and Skales continuing to make his mark in the music industry.
