Mercy Eke, a prominent reality TV star, has publicly apologized after her social media manager posted a contentious comment regarding Big Brother Naija contestant Onyeka.

The now-deleted tweet from Eke’s verified account referred to Onyeka as a “gold digger” in connection with her relationship with Ozee Mbadiwe, who is from a wealthy family.

The message read, “Onyeka the Mbadiwe gold digger sorry to burst your bubbles there’s no gold in the twins… #BBnaija.”

This comment led to widespread backlash, with fans expressing their anger and disappointment over the derogatory language used and questioning Eke’s oversight.

In response to the escalating situation, Eke clarified that the tweet did not reflect her personal opinions and was attributed to her social media handler.

Expressing her disappointment, Eke stated that she was shocked to wake up to such drama on her birthday.

She explained, “A handler who was supposed to concentrate on my birthday celebrations got involved in BBN drama, and now I have to address this situation.”

Eke, who has distanced herself from the current season of Big Brother Naija, expressed her dissatisfaction with negative remarks aimed at a housemate she respects.

“This behaviour is completely unprofessional,” she asserted, adding that she refrained from tagging her handler to prevent inciting further harassment from fans.

“I deeply apologize to Team Onyeka for this embarrassing incident linked to my account.
