Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has extended the state’s transportation subsidy for an additional six months as part of the Sustainable Action for Economic Recovery (SAfER) initiative. The announcement was made during a state-wide address marking Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day.

Makinde introduced the subsidy following the Federal Government’s removal of the petroleum subsidy. He acknowledged the challenges citizens are facing and confirmed the subsidy would now also cover trucks for produce evacuation, implemented through trader and agriculture unions.

Additionally, the governor directed that guarantors for small-scale agripreneur loans through the Agricultural Credit Corporation will now include Community Development Associations, farmers’ associations, and artisans, expanding beyond just civil servants.
