Dismissed Officer Arrested for Impersonating Police Sergeant in Akwa Ibom

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested a former police officer for allegedly impersonating a serving police sergeant.

The State Commissioner of Police, CP Joseph Eribo, revealed this during a press briefing on the Command’s activities since he assumed office on September 14, 2024.

According to CP Eribo, the arrest was made on September 26, 2024, when police operatives on patrol along Stadium Road, Uyo, intercepted Michael Effiong, a dismissed police officer in full uniform.

Effiong, who was dismissed from the force in 2011, was unable to explain why he was still wearing a police uniform. Various police items were recovered from him.

CP Eribo reiterated the Command’s commitment to upholding the law and treating citizens fairly.

House of Representatives member Hon. Abdulmumin Jibrin has assured Nigerians that President Bola Tinubu’s Tax Reform Bills will be passed by both chambers of the National Assembly.

Speaking on TVC’s Politics Today on Sunday, November 24, Jibrin dismissed doubts about the Bills, emphasizing their importance to Nigeria’s economic growth.

“I have never had any doubt about the consideration and passage of the Tax Reform Bills. We will pass the tax reform bills,” said Jibrin, who chairs the House Committee on Housing and Habitat.
