American rapper J. Cole has shared why he decided to retract his diss track aimed at Kendrick Lamar. The dispute started after Lamar dissed Cole and Drake on Future and Metro Boomin’s track “Like That,” leading Cole to fire back on his song “7 Minute Drill,” where he accused Lamar of “falling off like the Simpsons.”

During a performance at the 2024 Dreamville Festival in North Carolina, J. Cole paused his set to apologize to Lamar, offering insight into his decision in his latest track, “Port Antonio.” He explained that the media and others were trying to stir up conflict for profit. Cole emphasized that pursuing the feud would have cost him a friendship with Lamar, stating, “I pulled the plug because I saw where that was about to go… I wouldn’t have lost the battle, dog, I would’ve lost a bro.”
