“Nigeria Must Become a Nation of Safety and Justice Over Violence” – Peter Obi
Peter Obi, former Governor of Anambra State and 2023 presidential candidate has expressed his deep sadness and outrage over the tragic killing of 16 young men in Nibo, a community in Anambra State.
In a heartfelt message, he condemned the senseless act, describing it as a profound loss not only for the victims’ families but also for the larger community and the nation as a whole.
According to Obi, this despicable event serves as a stark reminder of the rising violence that has gripped Nigerian society in recent times.
“Life is sacred, and no one has the right to take it,” he said, lamenting the disturbing trend of disregard for human life and dignity that has spread throughout the country.
The brutal killing of these young men, he emphasized, is evidence of the growing menace of lawlessness that threatens the stability and progress of the nation.
Obi called for collective efforts to tackle the root causes of this violence, stressing that the country’s development is at risk if such atrocities are allowed to continue unchecked.
He urged the government, security agencies, and community leaders to come together and address these pressing issues before they escalate further.
In extending his condolences, Obi said his thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims, the Nibo community, and the Anambra State Government.
He urged authorities to ensure that justice is served and that the perpetrators of this horrific crime are brought to justice swiftly.
“Nigeria must become a nation where safety and justice prevail over violence and lawlessness,” he asserted.
The Nibo massacre has shocked the entire Anambra State, and its effects are being felt across the nation.
The 16 young men, whose lives were brutally cut short, were known to be active and well-loved members of their community.
Their deaths have left a void in the hearts of their families and friends, and the entire town of Nibo is in mourning.
In response to the incident, Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State has vowed to step up efforts to curb violence in the state.
He promised that the government would not rest until the criminals responsible for the attack were captured and justice was served.
Governor Soludo, like many in the state, has expressed concern over the increasing spate of killings and insecurity in the region.
Just recently, Anambra has been dealing with various cases of kidnappings, armed robbery, and cult-related violence.
Peter Obi’s call for justice echoes the sentiments of many Nigerians who have grown frustrated with the seeming inability of the government to curb insecurity.
Citizens have continuously called on the Nigerian police and security forces to take more decisive action in preventing violent incidents and ensuring that peace is restored to troubled regions.
Obi’s statement also highlights the need for long-term solutions, not just to address the immediate aftermath of violent attacks but to tackle the underlying problems that fuel such violence.
He noted that unemployment, poverty, and a lack of education are major contributors to the ongoing violence and stressed the importance of addressing these issues.
The Nibo massacre is yet another chapter in Nigeria’s long-standing struggle with insecurity.
While efforts have been made to address the problem, incidents like this show that much more needs to be done to ensure the safety of all citizens.
As the country continues to grapple with these challenges, leaders like Peter Obi continue to call for change, urging Nigerians to stand united in the fight for justice, peace, and progress.
May the souls of the departed rest in peace, and may their families, as well as the Anambra State Government, find the strength to bear this monumental loss.

Pastor Tunde Bakare Speaks on Rising Kidnappings, Urges Government Action
Nigerian pastor and overseer of the Citadel Global Community Church, Pastor Tunde Bakare, addresses and reacts to the current happenings of the country regarding the kidnapping and the abductions.
The pastor urges the government on steps they can take to solve and help the people of the country. “The Nigerian government has a clear and urgent duty to protect these Middle Belt communities, who have carried the weight of violence for far too long.”
“Rather than play the ostrich and cover up clear terrorism as mere farmer-herder clashes, the Nigerian state has a responsibility to invade the camps of armed marauders who hide under the cloak of herdsmen of whatever ethnicity, and who invade defenceless communities and gleefully massacre unarmed men, women and children.”
