Sanwo-Olu and Defence Chief to Address Africa Security Conference
Lagos State Governor Babatunde Sanwo-Olu and Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Musa will speak at the 18th Africa Security Watch Award and Conference on December 10 in Doha, Qatar. Patrick Agbambu, CEO of Africa Security Watch, announced this at a briefing in Abuja.
Sanwo-Olu will focus on how Lagos promotes people-centered governance to enhance peace and security, while General Musa will discuss the link between citizens’ development and national defense.
Agbambu emphasized that the conference aims to address Africa’s pressing security challenges, noting that over 70% of the continent faces insecurity. He encouraged discussions that promote safety and peace. The event will feature distinguished speakers addressing critical security issues. Brig.-Gen. Kukasheka Usman (Rtd) mentioned Qatar’s commitment to security and quality of life, hoping participants can learn valuable lessons for Africa.

Akpabio Represents Tinubu at Lagos Bridge Commissioning
It has been reported that Bola Ahmed Tinubu was absent at the commissioning of the Opebi-Mende Link Bridge, which took place on April 8, 2026.
However, Senate President Godswill Akpabio represented the President and carried out the ceremony.
As he commissioned the project, he stated “On behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, I commission these projects.”

Road Closures Hit Lagos Ahead of Presidential Commissioning
Residents of Lagos should prepare for traffic disruptions as several roads will be closed due to the visit of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who is set to commission infrastructural projects.
The commissioning will take place on April 8 and 9, 2026.
Affected areas on Wednesday (April 8):
Opebi, Allen Avenue, Ikeja, Ojota, and Victoria Island.
Affected areas on Thursday (April 9):
Lekki-Epe Expressway, Ikoyi, Victoria Island, and Ajegunle.
Motorists are advised to plan alternative routes and expect heavy traffic during these periods.
