Oyo State Commercial Motorcyclist Arrested for Allegedly Assaulting Female Passenger
A commercial motorcyclist named Kazeem has been arrested by the Oyo State Police Command for allegedly assaulting a female passenger who sought his assistance for a place to stay.
The incident, recounted by Police Public Relations Officer SP Adewale Osifeso, reportedly took place on the night of October 17.
The victim, who had recently arrived in Ibadan from Lagos, sought a ride to her destination in the Adeshina area. However, according to police reports, Kazeem diverted to an unfamiliar route, claiming he needed to stop by his wife’s shop.
He ultimately took her to an area in Ogbere, where he allegedly forced her inside and assaulted her. A medical report later revealed bruising on the victim, with evidence including female underwear and other clothing items found at the scene.
During questioning, Kazeem admitted to a sexual encounter but claimed it was consensual, stating that the woman had asked him for a place to stay overnight due to the late hour. He said he took her to his wife’s shop, where they spent the night together.
The case remains under investigation as authorities assess evidence and testimonies from both parties.

It started after a rumour was shared that police arrest and take money from riders as a demand for high bribes, sometimes reaching ₦200,000, and seize motorcycles if not given.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, then addressed the claims online and stated in his statement that he disagreed that the rumour is true and stated, “The spread of misinformation only causes more harm than good. In this era, we can and must do better.”

Ogun State Declares Tuesday Public Holiday to Mark 50th Anniversary
It has been announced by the governor of Ogun that Tuesday 3rd of February is a public holiday in order to mark the 50th anniversary of the state creation.
This public holiday declaration was released in a statement by the secretary of the state, Tokunbo Talabi.
