“I must have police escorts before I drive” Says Singer Tems
Nigerian Singer, Tems reveals that she cannot drive in Nigeria without escorts because she believes she is super famous. In a podcast with Big Boy TV in the US, Tems stated that movement is not easy as a celebrity in Nigeria. She recalls an incident that happened while driving in Lagos.
“I used to drive in Nigeria, but now I can’t drive. I almost got mobbed last December. If I want to drive, I must have police escorts at the front and the back,” she said.
Although Tems has now adjusted with her popularity and won’t make a mistake like leaving without escorts.
Two Nigerian music stars, Rema and Asake, have earned a place in former U.S. President Barack Obama’s annual list of favorite songs for 2024.
On Saturday, Obama shared his handpicked selection of tracks from the year, and both artists’ songs were included.
Rema’s hit single Yayo and Asake’s collaboration with Travis Scott on Active made the prestigious list..
The list also saw the inclusion of another African artist, South Africa’s Tyla, who was featured for her song Jump, a track featuring Gunna and Skillibeng.
In addition to the African stars, Nigerian-American singers Shaboozey and Jordan Adetunji also appeared on Obama’s playlist.
Shaboozey’s A Bar Song and Adetunji’s Kehlani were celebrated for their unique sound, adding diversity to the mix.
As expected, the list also featured big names from the global music scene, with legendary artists like Kendrick Lamar, Beyoncé, and Karol G all making an appearance.
These mainstream stars continue to dominate the music industry, but Obama’s inclusion of emerging artists such as Rema and Asake shows his appreciation for a variety of musical genres.
On sharing his list with his followers via X (formerly Twitter), Obama encouraged fans to explore the tracks, saying, “Here are my favorite songs from this year!
Check them out if you’re looking to shake up your playlist, and let me know if there’s a song or artist I should make sure to listen to.”
