Senator Eno Hands Over Sports Sector to Shehu Dikko
Senator John Owan Eno, the immediate past Minister of Sports Development, recently took to his X handle to announce the handover of his role to Shehu Dikko, the newly appointed Chairman of the National Sports Commission.
The Ministry of Sports Development, which oversaw the country’s sports agenda, is now defunct following its restructuring, with responsibilities transferred to the Commission.
Senator Eno, in his handover message, expressed a sincere wish for the sector’s success and progress, saying, “May the sports sector do well for the good of our nation.”
During the handover, Eno provided Mr Dikko with extensive briefs from his one year and three months in office, covering key developments across various departments.
Eno shared how he worked to support growth in areas like sports funding, youth development, and infrastructural improvements, hoping that Dikko will continue moving these initiatives forward.
Shehu Dikko, who now steps into a prominent role in Nigeria’s sports scene, brings with him a solid track record in sports management.
Known for his leadership as Vice President of the Nigeria Football Federation and chairman of the League Management Company, Dikko has long been influential in Nigerian football.
His tenure focused on refining sports policies and encouraging private-sector investment in sports facilities and programs.

Mazi Afam Osigwe Raises Concerns Over the Judiciary’s Role in Nigeria’s Elections
Former President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Mazi Afam Osigwe, speaks on the election and a popular notion that is happening. He shared how some politicians depend on the courts to win their elections instead of the voters (the people).
“A judge once presented a paper called ‘The Judicialisation of the Electoral Process.’ He argued that because of the difficulty of proving non-compliance with the Electoral Act, the courts have gradually and increasingly usurped the role of the voters. I couldn’t agree more.”
“They believe that between polling units and collation centres—especially at night—miracles happen before daybreak. So why vote?” he asked.
