In Oyo State, the police have arrested a 33-year-old woman, Comfort Olalere Tinubu, in connection with the death of her husband, Olusegun Tinubu, 39, following a heated argument at their home in the Adegbayi area of Ibadan.

The tragic incident took place on the night of Wednesday, October 30, leaving family members and neighbours in shock.

Comfort, a nursing mother, and Olusegun had been married for about three years and had two young children together.

According to sources close to the family, the argument reportedly began after Olusegun accused Comfort of locking their bedroom door from morning until evening.

He questioned her about leaving the house early in the day and returning around 7 PM, which led to a tense exchange.

One of Olusegun’s relatives, who asked to remain anonymous, shared details of the incident.

“I received a call around 10:03 PM, telling me that they had been arguing and that Comfort had stabbed him, but he was being taken to the hospital.

Not long after, around 10:30 PM, I got another call with the devastating news that my younger brother had passed away,” the relative said.

The argument reportedly escalated into a physical altercation when Olusegun allegedly slapped Comfort while she was breastfeeding their child.

At this point, another family member who lived with the couple intervened, managing to separate them and calm the situation temporarily.

This relative suggested that Olusegun spend the night in the living room to de-escalate any further confrontation.

However, according to the source, the tension reignited when Comfort later went to where Olusegun was resting in the living room and allegedly attacked him again, stabbing him in the back.

He screamed for help but collapsed shortly afterwards. When he was rushed to the hospital, doctors confirmed that he had succumbed to his injuries.

The family reported the incident to the police at the Gbagi station, and Comfort was detained for questioning.

Following the report, the case was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) at Iyaganku, where further investigations are underway.

Neighbours and friends have expressed shock over the incident, describing the couple as generally peaceful.

Many are left grappling with questions about what could have led to such a fatal altercation between them.

The tragic loss has also left the couple’s two children without their father and their mother under police custody, a heart-wrenching outcome that has saddened the local community.
