Presidency Refutes Claims of Favoritism in Security Appointments, Defends Tinubu’s Choices

The Nigerian Presidency has dismissed allegations that President Bola Tinubu’s administration is favoring the South West in recent security appointments.
Following Major General Olufemi Oluyede’s appointment as Acting Chief of Army Staff, social media accusations of “Yorubanisation” surfaced, suggesting an ethnic bias in the President’s selections.
Sunday Dare, the President’s Special Adviser on Public Communications and Orientation, addressed these claims by releasing a breakdown of regional representation among current security agency heads.
According to Dare, the North West holds the most appointments with eight representatives, followed by the South West with five, and the North Central with four.
Dare emphasized that these figures debunk the accusations of ethnic favoritism, asserting that the distribution of roles reflects a balanced approach.
