Tinubu Congratulates Trump on Re-election and Seeks Stronger US-Nigeria Relations
President Bola Tinubu extends his warmest congratulations to President Donald Trump on his re-election as the 47th President of the United States.
Tinubu expressed optimism about the renewed partnership between Nigeria and the United States, envisioning a strengthened relationship that meets the complex needs of today’s world.
In his congratulatory message, President Tinubu highlighted his commitment to fostering a productive alliance with the United States under Trump’s leadership.
He noted the potential for Nigeria and the U.S. to enhance economic collaboration, support peace initiatives, and tackle shared global challenges that impact both nations.
He emphasized, “Together, we have the opportunity to create sustainable economic cooperation, promote peace, and address the pressing global issues that touch the lives of our citizens.”
Tinubu’s message also conveyed his admiration for the democratic process in the U.S., acknowledging the American people’s trust in Trump’s vision for the nation.
He praised the resilience and determination of American voters in upholding democratic principles, recognizing Trump’s victory as a reflection of their confidence in his leadership.
The Nigerian president further remarked on Trump’s prior experience as the 45th U.S. president from 2017 to 2021, stating that this background equips him with valuable insights and strategies to navigate current global issues.

He shared his thoughts, saying the governor likely consulted with his close allies before making key decisions.
“My assumption is that the governor would have gone with his own close allies, discussed with them, and said that this is the best way, that he has to move forward for the next six months or thereabouts of his administration. I would assume that’s what he did.”
“But I am not in his chamber, so I wouldn’t know. But that’s what I would assume he would do.”
He added “But having taken the responsibility to come and finish his term, then he has to finish it in the way that allows him to govern. He can’t go back into fighting.”
Politician and former President Olusegun Obasanjo speaks on Nigeria and shares that the possibility of Nigeria surviving another civil war is quite low.
He revealed that the issues that led to the Biafra War have not been resolved and that if another war breaks out, it will be much harder to resolve.
Reflecting on the civil war, he shared “The conditions that led to the Nigerian civil war years ago still remain unresolved.”
“I was involved in the civil war, but whenever people ask me about the Asaba massacre, I always tell them I cannot give details because Murtala Muhammed was responsible for operations in that area.”
Nigerian businessman Isaac Fayose pleads with the government and President Tinubu that the minimum wage needs to be increased.
He shared that the current minimum wage of ₦70,000 is not enough considering the current state of the country and urged the government to increase it to ₦200,000.
“President Tinubu, have mercy on our people and increase the minimum wage to ₦200,000 now. I don’t think anyone can survive on the current ₦70,000 minimum wage. ₦70,000 is nothing. If we don’t solve the minimum wage problem, we can’t solve crime.”
