Trump Praises Elon Musk as “Genius,” Credits Starlink with Saving Lives During Hurricane Helene
Donald Trump, the Republican presidential candidate for 2024, has expressed his admiration for tech billionaire Elon Musk, calling him a “super genius” who deserves protection. Speaking to supporters on Wednesday, November 6, Trump highlighted Musk’s role in providing vital support during Hurricane Helene, which hit the southeastern United States in October.
Trump shared that he requested Musk’s Starlink satellite service to be deployed in North Carolina, noting how quickly Musk responded. “It saved a lot of lives. They saved a lot of lives,” Trump remarked, emphasizing the impact of Starlink’s quick setup during the crisis.
He continued, “He’s a character, a special guy, a super genius. We have to protect our geniuses; we don’t have that many of them.” Musk has actively supported Trump’s campaign, contributing $1 million to encourage voter registration for the Republican Party.
It has been reported that Bola Ahmed Tinubu was absent at the commissioning of the Opebi-Mende Link Bridge, which took place on April 8, 2026.
However, Senate President Godswill Akpabio represented the President and carried out the ceremony.
As he commissioned the project, he stated “On behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, I commission these projects.”
Residents of Lagos should prepare for traffic disruptions as several roads will be closed due to the visit of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who is set to commission infrastructural projects.
The commissioning will take place on April 8 and 9, 2026.

Opebi, Allen Avenue, Ikeja, Ojota, and Victoria Island.
Affected areas on Thursday (April 9):
Lekki-Epe Expressway, Ikoyi, Victoria Island, and Ajegunle.
Motorists are advised to plan alternative routes and expect heavy traffic during these periods.
