“I’m Straight and Focused on My Work” – Desmond Elliot Denies Gay Rumor
Nollywood actor and politician Desmond Elliot has recently addressed rumours regarding his sexuality, firmly denying any claims that he is gay.
The controversy emerged after a blog post surfaced, naming various Nigerian celebrities, including actors and reality stars, in a list of individuals allegedly associated with the LGBTQ+ community.
This list, featuring prominent figures across Nigeria’s entertainment industry, quickly went viral, prompting reactions from the public.
During an interview with TVC, Elliot dismissed the accusations as baseless, stating he had far more important issues to focus on than engaging with what he described as groundless rumours.
He questioned the relevance of such claims in his life, explaining, “Why would I respond to allegations made against me when it did not reduce or increase my life?”
Elliot emphasized that he sees no need to confirm or deny rumours that, in his view, have no real impact on his work or personal growth.
Elliot, who has transitioned from a successful acting career to a role in public service, added that his main priority remains creating positive change in the lives of others.
He explained that his actions and contributions to society matter more than speculation.
“As long as I’m affecting people positively, I’m good,” he shared, underscoring his commitment to his political responsibilities.
The actor went further to express that he identifies as heterosexual, making it clear he feels no need to defend his identity.
“Let me say right here, I am straight. You can never have anyone straighter than me,” he affirmed.
He advised individuals to live as they see fit, provided they act within the bounds of the law and show respect to others.
He added that if some people are looking for attention through controversial means, it’s their choice, but he has no interest in such pursuits.
“Do you and enjoy yourself, but do it within the law and concerning your neighbours,” he concluded.
