TCN Reports Fresh Vandalism on Lokoja–Gwagwalada Line, Disrupting Power Supply to Abuja
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a new act of vandalism on the 330kV Lokoja–Gwagwalada transmission line, affecting power supply to Abuja.
The incident, which took place early on November 9, resulted in damage to three transmission towers (T306, T307, and T308) and the theft of two spans of aluminum conductor. TCN engineers discovered the damage after several failed attempts to re-energize the line.
While an alternative line continues to supply power to the area, TCN is working to replace the damaged conductors.
This latest incident follows a series of attacks on power infrastructure, including previous cases on the Gwagwalada–Kukuwaba–Apo and Gwagwalada–Katampe lines. TCN has called on local communities to support security efforts, stressing the impact of vandalism on the stability of Nigeria’s national grid.
