Kizz Daniel Urges Artists to Focus on Music Not Charts
Nigerian music sensation Kizz Daniel, whose real name is Daniel Anidugbe, has sparked discussions in the music industry by urging fellow artists to prioritize their craft over chasing top positions on streaming charts.
The Buga crooner took to social media to share his thoughts, emphasizing that the race for number-one songs has become unproductive, as streaming figures on some platforms often don’t align with numbers on others.
Kizz Daniel challenged his colleagues to focus more on creating timeless music rather than relying on social media algorithms or manipulated figures to dominate charts.
In his post, he referenced American rapper Killer Mike, a four-time Grammy Award winner, noting that his success is built on consistent hard work and not necessarily viral or chart-topping tracks.
Kizz Daniel wrote, “Leave social media algorithms, focus on your craft.
Have you ever heard of a guy called Killer Mike? Guess not… 4 four-time Grammy winner.
Stop chasing number 1 songs; it’s meh now. Everything can be controlled.
Most of those songs’ numbers don’t correlate on other platforms… check.”
He also clarified his stance on the use of bots and stream farming to boost numbers on digital platforms.
While he acknowledged that it’s a form of marketing and not inherently wrong, he noted that it is more suitable for emerging artists who need visibility and not for already-established stars.
He further encouraged younger artists to release their music without fear of low streams, urging them to focus on making impactful art that resonates with audiences over time.
“Farming isn’t a crime; it’s marketing for placements and all… but it’s for those who can afford it,” he explained.
“We’re not shading anybody here before you start, just trying to push the new generation to drop those hidden gems. I won learn.”
Kizz Daniel’s statements reflect the growing debate in the music industry about the authenticity of streaming numbers and the pressure on artists to maintain a digital presence.

Rema and Asake Feature in Barack Obama’s Favorite Songs of 2024
Two Nigerian music stars, Rema and Asake, have earned a place in former U.S. President Barack Obama’s annual list of favorite songs for 2024.
On Saturday, Obama shared his handpicked selection of tracks from the year, and both artists’ songs were included.
Rema’s hit single Yayo and Asake’s collaboration with Travis Scott on Active made the prestigious list..
The list also saw the inclusion of another African artist, South Africa’s Tyla, who was featured for her song Jump, a track featuring Gunna and Skillibeng.
In addition to the African stars, Nigerian-American singers Shaboozey and Jordan Adetunji also appeared on Obama’s playlist.
Shaboozey’s A Bar Song and Adetunji’s Kehlani were celebrated for their unique sound, adding diversity to the mix.
As expected, the list also featured big names from the global music scene, with legendary artists like Kendrick Lamar, Beyoncé, and Karol G all making an appearance.
These mainstream stars continue to dominate the music industry, but Obama’s inclusion of emerging artists such as Rema and Asake shows his appreciation for a variety of musical genres.
On sharing his list with his followers via X (formerly Twitter), Obama encouraged fans to explore the tracks, saying, “Here are my favorite songs from this year!
Check them out if you’re looking to shake up your playlist, and let me know if there’s a song or artist I should make sure to listen to.”
