Mark Zuckerberg Meets with Trump at Mar-a-Lago Resort
Facebook founder and billionaire Mark Zuckerberg met with incoming US President Donald Trump at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida, on Wednesday.
This meeting highlights the growing connection between the Meta CEO and the president-elect as Trump prepares for his second term.
According to a Meta spokesperson, the meeting focused on the future of American innovation, and Zuckerberg appreciated the opportunity to discuss key matters with Trump and his team.
The meeting comes after months of reported communication between the two, including Zuckerberg’s comments praising Trump’s resilience following an assassination attempt earlier this year.
Despite past tensions, including Trump accusing Zuckerberg of potential election interference in his recent book, Wednesday’s meeting suggests a new chapter in their relationship.
Trump adviser Stephen Miller described Zuckerberg’s involvement as a sign of support for the reform movement Trump claims to lead in America and beyond.

Amnesty International Accuses Nigerian Police of Killing 24 Protesters
Amnesty International has accused Nigerian police of killing at least 24 people during the #EndBadGovernance protests, held from August 1 to 10 over Nigeria’s worsening economic conditions.
The victims, including 20 young adults, two children, and an elderly person, were reportedly shot at close range, with many sustaining fatal injuries to the head or torso. Amnesty called the actions deliberate and accused authorities of covering up the incidents.
Protests in Kano, Katsina, Jigawa, and other states turned violent when police used live ammunition and tear gas. Kano recorded 12 deaths, while Jigawa and Niger reported three each. Over 1,200 protesters, including minors, were detained, with reports of torture among detainees.
Despite evidence, authorities denied involvement, blaming “unknown gunmen” or dismissing reports as “fake news.” Amnesty has called for President Bola Tinubu to investigate and ensure accountability for the violence.
