Bandits Attack Taraba Governor’s Family, Sister Injured
Suspected bandits ambushed a vehicle carrying Jummai Kefas, the mother of Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas, along Kente Road in Wukari Local Government Area on Thursday morning. The governor’s sister, Atsi Kefas, was injured in the attack, sustaining a gunshot wound.
Chairperson of Wukari LGA, Dauda Agbu, confirmed the incident, describing it as “deeply troubling.” He assured that no lives were lost, stating, “Miss Atsi Kefas sustained a gunshot wound. She was treated at the Federal Teaching Hospital in Wukari, where her condition was stabilized before being airlifted to Abuja for further medical attention.”
Agbu urged residents to remain calm, noting that security agencies are working to apprehend the attackers.
The Taraba State Police Public Relations Officer, Usman Abdullahi, also confirmed the incident, reporting an armed robbery along the Wukari-Kente road. However, he could not confirm if the victims were the governor’s family members. “We received a report of a robbery attack on Wukari-Kente road but cannot ascertain if the governor’s mother and sister were among the victims. Investigations are ongoing,” he said.
Security efforts are being intensified to bring the perpetrators to justice, as the incident highlights the persistent insecurity in the region.

President Tinubu Speaks on CNG Benefits and Calls for Relief for Commuters
President Bola Tinubu speaks on CNG in Nigeria and shares how the benefits from it aren’t even helping the government but are going into the pockets of truck owners.
While speaking on his promise to help the refinery and the removal of the fuel subsidy to better the country, he spoke on CNG:
“Equally, the introduction of compressed natural gas — well, I will appeal to you: we will do more and encourage you, but ask your drivers to let the benefits trickle down to commuters too, because whatever benefit is coming from CNG is going into the pockets of truck owners. It’s not spreading as fast as I would like, but it should spread.
“The refineries you mentioned are going to come back to work. We’re just building a very firm reset and structural reworking of the economics of it.”
