Nollywood actor Ibrahim Chatta has addressed claims that he is underrated in the Nigerian film industry.

Speaking on a recent episode of the Talk To B podcast, the talented actor, known for his work in Yoruba cinema, confidently dismissed the perception that his skills are undervalued.

He made it clear that he is, in fact, among the highest-paid Yoruba-speaking actors in the industry, proving that his contributions are well-recognized where it matters most.

Chatta, who hails from the Nupe ethnic group in Kwara State, reflected on his journey to fame.

Before becoming a household name, he spent years working on his skills behind the scenes, referring to himself as a “studio rat” during his early days.

He revealed that his first steps in the entertainment industry involved writing promotional jingles and composing soundtracks for movies, an experience that helped build his resilience and creativity.

He explained how taking on responsibilities at a young age shaped his character and fueled his determination.

Despite struggling financially at the time, he chose to hide his hardships from his mother.

“I told my mum that I was doing okay and she didn’t need to send me food. But the truth was, I wasn’t comfortable at all,” Chatta admitted.

To make ends meet, he worked part-time as a bus conductor for weeks at a time.

These challenges, he noted, made him stronger and more determined to succeed.

His big break came when he started writing and composing soundtracks for movies, eventually creating music for over 400 films and promotional jingles for more than 400 companies.

During this period, Chatta wasn’t yet recognized for his acting talent, but his work behind the scenes laid the foundation for his future success.

He set up studios in various locations, including Ikeja, Lagos, where he spent countless hours writing songs, singing, and performing.
