Peter Obi, the former Governor of Anambra State and Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, has spoken out following the alarming disappearance of Rev. Prof. Godwin Okpala, the emeritus Archbishop of the Niger Province.

The revered cleric went missing on his way to a public function in Anambra State on Monday, accompanied by his driver.

Obi showed deep concern over the deteriorating state of security across Nigeria, noting that citizens now live in fear and uncertainty.

He emphasized that insecurity is no longer isolated to specific regions but has spread throughout the nation, leaving people vulnerable to kidnappings, attacks, and violence.

In his statement shared on his X (formerly Twitter) handle, Obi lamented that many victims of such incidents remain unreported.

He stressed that every Nigerian should have the fundamental right to move freely and safely within the country, pursuing their daily activities without the fear of harm or abduction.

He called on government authorities at all levels to take urgent steps to address the crisis, emphasizing the need to prioritize the protection of lives and property.

He also urged security agencies to act swiftly in solving the disappearance of Archbishop Okpala and his driver.
