Fenerbahce’s manager, Jose Mourinho, has expressed his desire to lead a national team before concluding his illustrious managerial career.

The iconic Portuguese coach, who was dismissed by AS Roma in early 2024, took charge of Turkish giants Fenerbahce later in the year.

Mourinho, a household name in football, has an impressive résumé that includes managing top clubs like Chelsea, Porto, Real Madrid, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United, Inter Milan, and Roma.

Speaking to Corriere dello Sport, Mourinho reflected on his future aspirations.

“I haven’t watched Roma play since I left, but I have watched Inter,” he admitted.

“I want to manage a European Championship or a World Cup, bringing a country together around its national team.

I’ve done it with clubs before, and to do it for a nation would be an incredible experience.”

Kenneth Omeruo has shown support for his Super Eagles teammates despite their 1-1 draw against Zimbabwe in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers on Tuesday in Uyo.

Victor Osimhen gave Nigeria the lead in the 74th minute, but Zimbabwe responded late with Chawanda Chirewa’s equalizer.

Reacting to the result, Omeruo shared his thoughts on X, saying, “Well done boys… we are almost there. Unlucky with the late goal. #Believe.”

Nigeria remains in fourth place in Group C with seven points from six matches. Eric Chelle’s team will face Rwanda when the qualifiers resume in September.

Chelle Praises Aina and Osayi-Samuel After Nigeria’s Draw Against Zimbabwe

Super Eagles head coach, Eric Chelle, has praised Ola Aina and Bright Osayi-Samuel for their strong performances in Nigeria’s 1-1 draw against Zimbabwe in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers on Tuesday.

The match, held at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, ended with both teams sharing the points. After a goalless first half, Victor Osimhen put Nigeria ahead in the 74th minute with a well-placed header. However, Zimbabwe struck back late in the game when Tawanda Chirewa found the net, leveling the score.

In his post-match interview, Chelle praised the efforts of Aina and Osayi-Samuel, saying they gave solid performances despite the tough conditions.

“Ola did well switching between the right and left sides, and Bright also had a good game,” Chelle said. “It was tough in the final moments, but we managed to get a draw.” Following the result, Nigeria now sits in fourth place in Group C with seven points.

Former Professional footballer, Joey Barton has been found guilty of assault charge. This was reported by Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.

The ex-footballer was reported to have assimilated his wife by beating her after pushing her to the floor and kicking her in the head.

It can be recalled that the assault incident and charge occurred in 2021. The incident resulted as Barton was intoxicated and abused his wife after their children went to bed.

The sentence and punishment of the ex-footballer has yet to be stated.
