Alexi Lalas Supports Ronaldo’s View on Saudi Pro League Being Better Than Ligue 1

Former American footballer Alexi Lalas has come to the defense of Cristiano Ronaldo following his recent remarks the Saudi Pro League (SPL), claiming it is better than France’s Ligue 1.
Ronaldo made the comment after receiving the Best Middle Eastern Player award at a December gala, where he also took the opportunity to highlight that Paris Saint-Germain was the only prominent club in Ligue 1, saying, “Everyone else is finished.”
However, Lalas, speaking on his podcast, explained that Ronaldo’s comments were valid, especially in regards to the unique challenges of playing in the Middle Eastern climate.
Lalas said, “I like that he is defending Saudi Arabia.
I like that he has taken this unconventional pathway, notwithstanding how much money he’s making.
It’s not as traditional as the past, and it has shown him some of the challenges out there; both on and off the field, when playing in leagues that many people don’t fully understand or appreciate.”
Drawing from his experience with Major League Soccer (MLS), Lalas added, “From an MLS perspective, I can appreciate it.
There are unique challenges that players face in leagues like Saudi Arabia that others often overlook.
I can guarantee there are difficulties players encounter there that are hard to comprehend unless you’ve experienced them.”

Chelsea Reject Arsenal’s First Offer for Young Goalkeeper Freddy Bernal

Chelsea have turned down Arsenal’s opening offer for promising England U-18 goalkeeper Freddy Bernal. According to Fabrizio Romano, the Blues showed no interest in entertaining the initial £1.25 million bid, making it clear they want to hold on to the young talent.
Despite the rejection, Arsenal are expected to return with an improved offer as they continue their push for the highly-rated shot-stopper. Chelsea, however, remain determined to keep Bernal at Stamford Bridge, where he’s seen as one for the future. Romano also mentioned that other clubs are keeping tabs on the young keeper’s situation.

Lamine Yamal Mocks Bellingham After Barcelona’s 4-3 Win Against Real Madrid

Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal took a cheeky jab at Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham after his side’s thrilling 4-3 victory over Los Blancos in Sunday’s El Clasico.
Before the match, Barcelona had suffered a Champions League exit to Inter Milan, which led to some Real Madrid players, including Bellingham and club legend Sergio Ramos, showing support for Inter’s Alessandro Bastoni by liking his celebratory post on social media.
But Yamal had the last word after Barcelona’s win. The 17-year-old took to Instagram with a playful message, saying “like this one too” alongside a winking emoji. He posted a photo of himself mimicking a famous Cristiano Ronaldo celebration from 2012, when Ronaldo’s goal sealed a 2-1 win for Real Madrid over Barcelona after a crushing 5-0 defeat earlier that season.
Yamal’s goal, along with efforts from Eric Garcia and Raphinha, secured the victory for Barcelona, while Kylian Mbappé’s hat-trick wasn’t enough for Madrid.

Lamine Yamal Scores as Barcelona Win 4-3 Against Real Madrid

Barcelona boss Hansi Flick praised Lamine Yamal for his mature display in their thrilling 4-3 victory over Real Madrid on Sunday. The 17-year-old forward impressed once again, helping push the Catalan side closer to the LaLiga title.
Yamal netted Barcelona’s second goal with a sharp finish into the corner of the net just inside the box, turning the game around after they had gone two goals down to an early Kylian Mbappé brace. By halftime, Barça were up 4-2. Though Mbappé later completed his hat-trick, Barcelona managed to hang on for the win at the Olympic Stadium, putting them seven points ahead of Madrid with only three matches left.
Speaking after the match, Flick dismissed any notion of Yamal being too young for the moment. “He’s not just a kid,” the coach said. “He’s confident, smart, and knows what he’s doing out there. That goal brought us back into the game and showed just how much quality he has at only 17. That’s exactly what we expect from him.”
