Former Manchester United star Dion Dublin has singled out Bruno Fernandes as the only player currently deserving of his spot in the team.

His remarks came after Manchester United endured a disappointing 3-1 defeat against Brighton & Hove Albion at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Dublin, who played for United in the early 1990s, expressed frustration over the team’s lackluster performance, emphasizing that Fernandes was the only one showing true effort on the pitch.

“Bruno Fernandes is trying to do everything himself. The quality I saw from the rest of the team simply wasn’t good enough,” Dublin stated during an appearance on BBC Radio 5 Live.

The match started poorly for the Red Devils, with Brighton taking an early lead through Yankuba Minteh just five minutes in.

Kaoru Mitoma doubled the visitors’ advantage in the 60th minute, and Georginio Rutter sealed the win in the 76th, leaving United fans disheartened.

Fernandes provided United’s only response, converting a penalty in the 23rd minute, which also marked their sole shot on target throughout the game.

Dublin didn’t hold back in his criticism, “Brighton deserved the win. They were sharper, stronger, and more determined,” he remarked.

He also noted United’s inability to sustain pressure, “There are these 10-minute spells where you think, ‘This is it,’ but then it fades. Bruno, though, deserves credit. He’s everywhere on the pitch, giving everything.”
