Nathan Tella Hopes to Return to Super Eagles After Champions League
Bayer Leverkusen winger Nathan Tella is hoping to return to the Super Eagles squad after being left out since his debut in 2023.
The 25-year-old made his first appearance for Nigeria in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Zimbabwe but hasn’t received a call-up since.
Speaking to Oma Sports, the former Southampton player made it clear that he’s not the type to demand a national team spot. Instead, he believes in proving himself through hard work.
“This is not for me to decide. I’ve never been one to say ‘I should be called up.’ I just focus on working hard and earning my chances,” Tella said.
With Eric Chelle now in charge of the Super Eagles, Tella remains hopeful that his performances will earn him another opportunity to represent Nigeria.
“If the new coach thinks I’ve done enough, I’d be happy to accept the call. If not, that means I have to work harder,” he added.
