Ronaldo Says He Enjoyed Playing at Camp Nou Even When Fans Booed Him
Cristiano Ronaldo has expressed his fondness for playing at FC Barcelona’s Camp Nou, despite the often hostile reception from fans.
In a recent interview with Edu Aguirre, Ronaldo remarked, “I loved playing in the Camp Nou. They booed me, they insulted me, and I loved it!”
Throughout his illustrious career, Ronaldo faced Barcelona numerous times, notably during his tenure with Real Madrid, where he developed a famed rivalry with Lionel Messi.
He also competed against the Catalan giants while playing for Manchester United and Juventus. In total, Ronaldo played at Camp Nou 20 times, scoring 15 of his 20 goals against Barcelona at their home ground.
Reflecting on these encounters, Ronaldo admitted a particular satisfaction in silencing the Camp Nou crowd. He stated, “I liked scoring goals more at the Camp Nou than at the Bernabeu”.
Interestingly, Ronaldo revealed that before his move to Manchester United from Sporting CP, he had the opportunity to join Barcelona. He shared, “There was a phase when I was at Sporting, and I had the chance to play for several clubs, one of which was Barca.
Someone approached me to sign me, but it didn’t happen.” He added, “Maybe they wanted to take me the following year, but Manchester United took me that minute. That’s how fate is.”
