Jisoo is Back on Screen with “Newtopia” a Zombie Thriller
BLACKPINK’s Jisoo is making her return to the screen with Newtopia, a gripping zombie apocalypse series. Starring alongside Park Jeong Min, the show follows a couple who navigate a city overrun by the undead while finding their way back to each other.
Directed by Time to Hunt’s Yoon Sung-hyun, Newtopia tells the story of Lee Jae-Yoon (Park), a military recruit, and Kang Young-Joo (Jisoo), a young professional, who reconnect after a breakup.
But their reunion is far from smooth—Seoul is in chaos, and their love is about to be tested like never before. Can they survive both the zombies and their unresolved emotions?
Jisoo shared that while the role pushed her physically, she discovered a passion for action scenes. “It was tough, but I enjoyed every moment. I made sure to train on my days off, stretch before filming, and stay focused during rehearsals to avoid injuries,” she said.
Meanwhile, Park Jeong Min didn’t hold back his admiration for Jisoo’s dedication. Speaking with The Hindustan Times, he admitted to being a fan of hers long before working together.
“You may not know me well, but I know how much Jisoo is loved worldwide… and I love her as an actor too. She pushed herself in so many ways for this role, and I couldn’t be prouder. I think her fans are going to love seeing this side of her.”
With intense action, emotional depth, and a thrilling storyline, Newtopia is set to be a must-watch.
