Former Real Madrid and Germany midfielder Sami Khedira has weighed in on the age-old debate between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, picking Ronaldo as the greatest footballer of all time.

Khedira, who played alongside Ronaldo for seven years at Real Madrid and Juventus, made it clear that his loyalty lies with the Portuguese star.

For years, football fans, players, and analysts have been divided over who truly deserves the GOAT title. While Ronaldo is known for his incredible athleticism and goal-scoring ability, Messi’s technical brilliance and playmaking skills have earned him just as much admiration.

However, having witnessed Ronaldo’s work ethic and impact firsthand in both Spain and Italy, Khedira has no doubts about his choice.

“For me, it’s Cristiano,” Khedira said in an interview with talkSPORT. “That’s not to disrespect Messi because what he has achieved and is still doing, especially in the U.S., is incredible.

But I know Cristiano personally, I played with him for years, and I’ve seen his mentality up close. So I’m 100 per cent team Ronaldo, but with full respect for Messi.”
