Adamu Garba Says USAID Is Funding Boko Haram Weapons in Nigeria
Adamu Garba, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress and former presidential aspirant, has backed claims that the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is funding terrorist groups, including Boko Haram and ISWAP.
Garba, in a video shared on his X page, questioned the $824 million USAID reportedly spent in Nigeria last year, alleging that the funds were used to supply weapons to Boko Haram, ISWAP, and other terrorist organizations.
The accusations match those made by US Congressman Scott Perry, who had earlier claimed that $697 million in USAID aid was being channeled to groups like Boko Haram, ISIS, and Al-Qaeda. Perry also alleged that $136 million earmarked for building schools in Pakistan had no records of expenditure.
Garba responded to these, stating that, “The weapons terrorists use are funded by foreign operators. This expose confirms that USAID is helping to arm Boko Haram and other groups.”
He also expressed concerns over the lack of accountability, pointing out that the $824 million could have provided significant funding for Nigeria’s education and healthcare, yet it didn’t seem to benefit the people.
He concluded by stating that USAID’s role in funding terrorism was part of a larger global corruption scandal that, according to him, would soon be fully exposed.
