Popular Actress Michelle Trachtenberg Dies at 39

Michelle Trachtenberg, the talented actress known for her memorable roles in “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “Gossip Girl,” has passed away at the age of 39. She was found unresponsive in her New York City apartment on February 26, 2025. Authorities have stated that no foul play is suspected.

Born on October 11, 1985, in New York City, Michelle began her acting career at the tender age of three, appearing in commercials. She gained early recognition with roles in “The Adventures of Pete & Pete” and “Harriet the Spy.”

Her portrayal of Dawn Summers, the younger sister of the titular character in “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” further solidified her status in Hollywood. Later, she captivated audiences as Georgina Sparks in the popular series “Gossip Girl,” a role she reprised in the 2022 reboot.

In addition to her television success, Michelle showcased her versatility in films such as “EuroTrip,” “Ice Princess,” and “17 Again.” She also earned a Daytime Emmy nomination for hosting the Discovery Kids series “Truth or Scare.”

Reports indicate that Michelle had recently undergone a liver transplant and was facing health challenges.
