Former Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has voiced his disappointment over the club’s decision to sell Scott McTominay.

United offloaded the Scottish midfielder to Napoli last summer for £25 million but have struggled to replace him. Meanwhile, McTominay has been thriving in Italy, scoring seven goals and providing four assists in 27 games. Under Antonio Conte, he has become a key player, helping Napoli climb to second place in Serie A.

Back in England, Manchester United have been facing a tough season under new manager Ruben Amorim. The team sits 14th in the Premier League after 27 games and recently crashed out of the FA Cup following a 4-3 penalty shootout loss to Fulham.

Solskjaer, a club legend and former United boss, shared his thoughts in an interview with The Athletic. While he was pleased to see Bruno Fernandes and Harry Maguire performing well, he admitted he was unhappy about McTominay’s departure.

“I’m upset that we let him go because he was important last season when he kept scoring crucial goals. His heart and understanding of the club’s culture were valuable,” Solskjaer said.
