The video became viral because the marriage fell apart due to the amount demanded for bride price. The woman’s family requested for One Million Naira as the bride price.
The viral video was shared by a family relative expressing his disappointment with the outcome.
Actor Kanayo then reacted and shared that bride price in South East are always high. He stated that the price is not surprising and it is quite common in the South East.
“Bride price is relative in igbo land And varies from family to family.It is also dependent on the value attracted by the girl….It is not peculiar to ndi Mbaise. Kanayo O Kanayo Ihe Mbaise ji Ka Mba.”
