Lookman and Gasperini Make Peace After Juventus Win
Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini and Ademola Lookman seem to have patched things up after sharing a hug during La Dea’s 4-0 win over Juventus at the Allianz Stadium on Sunday.
Their relationship had been tense since last month when Lookman missed a penalty in a Champions League match against Club Brugge. Things got worse when Lookman ignored Gasperini after being substituted in the following game against Empoli.
Lookman, who scored Atalanta’s fourth goal against Juventus, was substituted 10 minutes before the end and hugged Gasperini on the sideline, signaling that the tension might be over.
“When a group spends 300 days together each year, disagreements happen,” Gasperini said after the match. He praised Lookman’s growth, saying the winger has become a better player by understanding the team dynamic.
“He used to play more individually, but now he’s more connected with the team. Lookman made Atalanta better, and Atalanta made him better. I’m convinced he could become the captain before the season ends,” Gasperini added.
