Manchester United midfielder Ruben Amorim has praised captain Bruno Fernandes for his outstanding performance in their UEFA Europa League win over Real Sociedad on Thursday. Amorim described Fernandes as a major threat, especially when he’s close to the opponent’s box.

Fernandes delivered a brilliant display in the Europa League Round of 16 second leg, scoring a hat-trick in a 4-1 win at Old Trafford. The victory secured United’s place in the Europa League quarter finals with a 5-2 aggregate win. United will now face French side Lyon in the next round.

After the match, Amorim shared his thoughts on Fernandes’ versatility and determination. He said Fernandes is highly competitive and always eager to win, even to the point of being too intense at times.

“He’s the kind of player who can switch positions easily and still deliver,” Amorim said. “He can take set-pieces, score penalties, press high, and control the game’s flow late on.”

Amorim added that Fernandes’ ability to play as a No.8, No.10, or even No.6 gives the team more flexibility. He stated how dangerous Fernandes becomes near the box, with his ability to both score and create chances.
