Troost-Ekong Confident Super Eagles Can Win Against Rwanda

Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong has shared that new head coach Eric Chelle has provided the team with clear guidance ahead of their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe.
Speaking to NFF TV, Troost-Ekong gave an update on how the team is preparing for the crucial match against Rwanda on Friday.
“He [Eric Chelle] has given us a lot of instructions. Our focus now is to understand exactly what he expects from us on Friday and work toward delivering it,” Troost-Ekong said.
He also acknowledged the pressure on the team but remains confident they can handle it. “These are the key moments where we need to step up, but none of us is afraid of that. Like I said, this pressure is a privilege for all of us,” he added.
The Super Eagles have struggled against Rwanda recently, failing to win their last two encounters.
Currently, Nigeria sits in fifth place in the World Cup Group C qualifying table with just three points from four matches. They are behind Rwanda, South Africa, Benin Reputhe bloc, and Lesotho, and are still searching for their first win in the group.

“We Have a Lot of Quality Players” – Troost-Ekong Shows Confidence in Super Eagles

Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong has expressed confidence in the team’s strength ahead of their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Zimbabwe.

Super Eagles Celebrate Lookman for Winning CAF Player of the Year

Super Eagles players honored Ademola Lookman on Monday night with a cake to celebrate his win as the 2024 CAF Men’s Player of the Year. The Atalanta winger was celebrated during dinner at the team’s camp at Four Points by Sheraton Hotel, Ikot Ekpene.
Lookman won the prestigious award last December in Marrakech, Morocco, following an impressive season for both his club and the Super Eagles. Victor Osimhen, who won the award in 2023, praised Lookman and said he fully deserved the recognition.
“We all know Lookman deserved this. He’s been outstanding for both his club and the Super Eagles,” Osimhen said. “It’s a big deal that this award came to Nigeria and went to someone who truly earned it.”
Osimhen added, “I’m really proud of you. We’ve talked about this privately, and I’ve told you how proud I am that you chose to play for the Super Eagles. Your hard work and dedication have paid off.”
Lookman and Osimhen were key to Nigeria’s 2-0 win over Rwanda last Friday. They’ll be looking to make an impact again when Nigeria faces Zimbabwe today.
