Jennifer Lopez and Emme Shine for the Star-Studded ‘Othello’ Premiere in New York

On March 23, 2025, Jennifer Lopez and her 17-year-old child, Emme, attended the opening night of the Broadway revival of “Othello” at New York City’s Barrymore Theatre. The production stars Denzel Washington as Othello and Jake Gyllenhaal as Iago. The event attracted numerous celebrities, including former President Joe Biden and First Lady Dr. Jill Biden.
Jennifer Lopez, aged 55, showcased a chic two-piece ensemble featuring a midriff-baring, long-sleeve top adorned with rhinestones, beads, and gold sequins, paired with a matching floor-length skirt. She complimented her outfit with a black fur coat and styled her hair in a sleek bun. Emme opted for a modern look, wearing a black-and-white pinstriped suit over a gray shirt, accessorized with a dark, multi-colored tie, chunky black loafers, and black-rimmed eyeglasses.
Emme, who uses gender-neutral pronouns, is one of Lopez’s twins from her marriage to singer Marc Anthony. Known for their artistic talents, Emme authored the children’s book “Lord Help Me: Inspiring Prayers for Every Day” and performed alongside Lopez during the Super Bowl halftime show in 2020.
The “Othello” revival has garnered significant attention, marking the first Broadway production of the play in over four decades. Directed by Kenny Leon, the show has set box office records, grossing $2.8 million in a single week. The limited engagement is scheduled to run until June 8.

“Afrobeats Has Stalled” – Amaarae Hails Rema’s ‘HEIS’ for Pushing Boundaries

Ghanaian-American singer Amaarae goes viral after sharing her thoughts on the current state of Afrobeats, stating that the genre has stalled.
She expressed concern about how Afrobeats is becoming too repetitive and urged artists to experiment with new sounds.
“Afrobeats and African music need to evolve. It needs to evolve in a direction that is fearless, and I think right now artists have made so much money from a certain type of sound that they are afraid to step out of the boundaries because they are probably more focused on the financial aspect of it. And as a result, I think Afrobeats has stalled.”
The singer then gave an example, commenting on how Rema did just that with his recent album “HEIS”.
