Former Chelsea star John Mikel Obi believes the club must not miss the chance to sign Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen.

Chelsea had tried to land Osimhen last summer, but the deal fell through due to his high wage demands.

The Super Eagles forward, currently on loan at Galatasaray, has been in red-hot form this season, scoring 27 goals and providing 5 assists in 32 matches across all competitions.

Despite their ongoing search for a strong partner to support Nicolas Jackson up front, Chelsea reportedly aren’t targeting Osimhen this summer.

Speaking on the Obione podcast, Mikel expressed his disappointment at the club’s hesitation.

“It would be a big shame if we pass on someone who’s always wanted to wear the Chelsea shirt,” Mikel said.

“He grew up watching Drogba, idolising him. He’d want to chase his records, win titles, and take us back to the top. That’s his dream.”

Mikel added that the opportunity to sign Osimhen is still open. “We already have a connection. If the club decides to go back in, it’s just a phone call away. Get him in!” he said.
